Open Palm Oil Genome: IPB–BPDP Research Uncovers Genetic Treasure for Future-Resilient Palm Oil

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA — Indonesian palm oil research has reached a historic milestone. Supported by the Palm Oil Research Grant from the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), a research team from IPB University, in collaboration with PT Smart Tbk and the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute (PPKS), has successfully mapped the complete genome sequences of two key genetic resources of oil palm: a wild Dura from Cameroon (Eg-DCM) and the ancestral Deli Dura preserved at the Bogor Botanical Gardens (Eg-DBG).
