Malaysia CPO Futures Strengthen

CPO futures traded on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives also strengthened on Monday, supported by firmer global crude oil prices and rising palm olein prices on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) in China.

Bernama reported that the September 2026 CPO contract rose RM90 to RM4,698 per tonne at the close of trading. The October 2026 contract also gained RM41 to RM4,816 per tonne.

Further gains were recorded in the November 2026 contract, which increased RM49 to RM4,978 per tonne. The December 2026 contract advanced RM56 to RM5,110 per tonne.

For January 2027, the CPO price climbed RM67 to RM5,294 per tonne, while the February 2027 contract increased RM73 to RM5,347 per tonne.

Despite the stronger prices, CPO trading activity declined. Trading volume stood at 91,019 lots, down from 116,950 lots in the previous Friday’s session.

In contrast, open interest increased to 337,392 contracts from 334,025 contracts previously. The rise indicates that open positions in the CPO futures market continued to grow despite the decline in daily trading volume.

In the physical market, September CPO in Southern Malaysia also moved higher, gaining RM30 to RM4,700 per tonne.
