JAKARTA, InfoSAWIT – Indonesian integrated palm oil company Musim Mas has received the Mahayuga Award 2026 in the Green Industry Pioneer category, recognizing its efforts to combine business growth with environmental responsibility and long-term social impact.
The award was presented to Musim Mas President Director Gunawan Siregar by Environment Minister and Head of Indonesia’s Environmental Control Agency Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, accompanied by University of Indonesia Rector Prof. Heri Hermansyah.
The ceremony was held as part of the Mahayuga event organized by Garuda TV on August 9, 2026.
Gunawan said the recognition was not an endpoint for the company, but an encouragement to continue improving its sustainability performance through innovation and long-term commitment.
For Musim Mas, sustainability has become an increasingly important part of its business strategy, covering responsible production practices, emissions reduction, environmental protection, and support for independent smallholders and surrounding communities.
Sustainability Efforts Across the Palm Oil Supply Chain
Musim Mas has developed a range of sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint while strengthening the resilience of the palm oil supply chain.
The company has expanded methane capture and biogas utilization facilities across several operational areas as part of its strategy to improve resource efficiency and reduce emissions.
Its climate management and environmental transparency efforts have also received recognition through inclusion in the CDP A List for three consecutive years, according to the company’s statement.
Beyond its own operations, Musim Mas has continued to work with independent smallholders through training, assistance in adopting better agricultural practices, productivity improvement programs, and stronger supply chain traceability.
The initiatives are intended to help smallholders improve farm productivity and business resilience while supporting the adoption of more responsible plantation practices.
Award Reinforces Long-Term Sustainability Commitment
The Mahayuga Awards recognize individuals, institutions, organizations, and public figures considered to have contributed through innovation, service, and initiatives supporting national development.
In 2026, the awards covered eight categories, including social leadership, governance, environmental and social initiatives, human capital development, energy transition, green industry, food and national resilience, environmental protection, and lifetime achievement.
For Musim Mas, the Green Industry Pioneer award serves as both recognition and a reminder that sustainability is a continuing process.
The company said it would continue integrating sustainability principles into its business development strategy while working toward a more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible palm oil industry.
As Indonesia’s palm oil sector faces growing demands for transparency, lower emissions, and stronger sustainability performance, initiatives involving companies, smallholders, and other stakeholders will remain central to the industry’s long-term competitiveness and global market position. (T2)
