NORTH SUMATERA – Ministry of Agriculture claimed the program of integration palm oil-cattle increasing, it characterized by the increasing of amount palm oil plantation companies that implementing the integration program.
Cited from Research and Development of Agriculture, on Friday (05/12/2014), the integration of palm oil plantation with sattle-beef farms developed by R&D of Agriculture through R&D Agriculture Center is being increasing.
The development of the program can be seen on the field visit by R&D Agriculture Center recently to PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations (BSP) and PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (PTPN III) in North Sumatera.
PT BSP opens their palm oil plantation as the grazing cattle owned by local ranchers, one is in Gurach Batu Estate plantation, Asahan, North Sumatera. The land for grazing of cattle is the commitment of the company in integrating palm oil-cattle program.
“Palm oil plantations get many advantages from the existence of cattle in plantations cause it can decrease the weeds and managing palm oil wastes,” said Manager of Gurach Batu Estate PT BSP, Adni Sahid. (T3)
