JOGJAKARTA – Not only deepen their knowledge in campus, some of university students of Yogyakarta Indonesian Moslem University also help the patchouli farmers in increasing the distillation processing of patchouli oil by using palm oil shell wastes.

Cited from Antara, the Leader 0f University Students Team, Ifat Fatimah. On Monday (24/11/2014), stated the palm oil shell wastes contain high active carbon. The high of carbon can be used as the main component in patchouli oil distillation.

Besides, she explained, the active carbon of palm oil shell have a big absorbing power in binding metal and dirties contain in patchouli oil.

“The active carbon id modified to increasing the effectiveness of the performance. We give a special treatment such is mix the ammonia solvent and heat in 70-80 Celsius degrees for seven hours, she said. (T3)
