JAKARTA – One biggest palm oil producer in the world, Cargill has promised to run sustainable palm oil practices. Head of Indonesia’s Forest Global Campaigner, Greenpeace, Bustar Maitar recently said it.
“It is the commitment of Cargill to end deforestation, peatland destruction, and social exploitation,” he said in the written statement which InfoSAWIT got. The policy, according to Bustar, is important action. But the more important is the realization so that the policy could make real changes to palm oil industries.
“That is a good action but it really needs time to realize it. But the action should be independently verified,” he said. (T3)
