Kuala Lumpur – Certification system of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm (RSPO) has recently agreed to the certification for sustainable biofuel products (RSPO RED). It is also admitted by by the European Commission of Renewable Energy Directive (RED) since November 2012.
RSPO reported which InfoSAWIT got, the scheme of RSPO-RED is the next certification from RSPO (CSPO) certification by adding the principles and criteria about the calculation of green house gas (GHG).
After the agreement, the second biggest palm oil producer in the world, Golden Agri Resources Ltd (GAR) will be the supplier of RSPO-RED, by exporting its first product to Neste Oil in Finlandia.
Vice President of Sustainability & Public Affairs, Neste Oil, Simo Honkanen, the scheme of RSPO-RED urges the use of CSPO for biofuel. “As the pioneer of RSPO-RED consumer, we commit to promote sustainable palm oil,” Honkanen said. (T2)
