Jakarta – Indonesia will save 1 million kiloliter avtur by mixing 2% of biodiesel to it. This happens for the Desicion of Secretary of Transportation No 201/2013.

Vice President Corporate Strategic Planning, Pertamina, Heru Setiawan said, there 5 millions of avtur are used nowadays per year. Pertamina itself just produces 30-40% of the total national needs. “Having the mandatory of biodiesel usage, we think, we could save the imports of avtur,” he said in Jakarta, Monday, (26/8) as written in Neraca.

Heru continued, his side has tested to mix the avtur and the vegetable oil from palm oil in Dumai. The result, bio avtur (the mixing of palm oil and avtur) and other kinds of other vegetable oil could be produced. “The result is known. It is not good, we will complaint,” he said.

Based on Pertamina, beside producing its own avtur, most of avtur is also got from Singapore and Korea. On the other hand, based on Ministry of Transportation, there are 15% of increasing passangers per year using the domestic flight service and 20%  use international flight. From the numbers, the demand of national and international flights to the avtur demand are proportional about 12% and 8% per year. (T2)
