JAKARTA –Palm Oil Farmers Union hoped that the new government should evaluate the price of palm oil fruit for it often decreases.
“The regulation to determine the fruit should be immediately done by the new government,” General Secretary Palm Oil Farmers Union, Mansuetus Darto said, Wednesday (23/7/2014).
He explained, it should be done so that the businessmen do not play their role in the price of the fruit. Darto suspected, the decreasing price of fruit would relate to the businessmen joining in the president election 2014. There were lots of money given by palm oil businesssmen to a certain candidate.
“The effect, the farmers burden all the businessmen’s political games and the farmers should sell the fruit in cheap price,” he said.
He gave example, the price of fruit in Rokan Hulu, Riau, decreased from Rp 1.800/kg to be Rp 1.300/kg. The falling price, he continued, in the region was for the independent farmers in the middlemen. (T3)
