InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Oleochemical Producers Association (APOLIN) has expressed its deepest condolences and concern following a fire at the facility of PT Evyap Sabun Indonesia in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ), North Sumatra. The incident resulted in fatalities.
In an official statement received by InfoSAWIT on Friday (September 4, 2026), APOLIN extended its condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with the management and employees of PT Evyap Sabun Indonesia, one of the association’s members.
“On behalf of the APOLIN Board and the entire APOLIN family, we extend our deepest condolences to the victims’ families,” the APOLIN Board said in its statement.
APOLIN prayed that the victims would receive the best place in the presence of God Almighty and pass away in a state of khusnul khatimah. The association also expressed hope that the bereaved families would be given strength and resilience in facing the tragedy.
APOLIN Supports Victim Response
In addition to expressing condolences, APOLIN conveyed its concern and support for the leadership, management, and employees of PT Evyap Sabun Indonesia.
The association believes the company’s management has taken the necessary measures to handle the victims, provide assistance to their families, and ensure the safety of employees.
APOLIN also expressed concern over efforts to address the impact of the fire at the oleochemical industrial facility.
According to APOLIN, the response and investigation into the incident need to be carried out properly to determine the cause of the fire. The findings are expected to provide important lessons for Indonesia’s oleochemical industry.
A Lesson for the Oleochemical Industry
APOLIN hopes the incident will serve as an important momentum to further strengthen occupational safety measures and accident prevention efforts across the national oleochemical industry.
Strengthening safety standards is considered particularly important because the oleochemical industry is an integral part of the downstream processing chain for palm oil and other vegetable oils.
“APOLIN hopes that the response and investigation process will proceed properly to determine the cause of the incident and provide shared lessons for strengthening safety and accident prevention in Indonesia’s oleochemical industry,” the APOLIN Board said.
