InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The price of crude palm oil (CPO) set by PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) increased on Thursday (September 3, 2026), even as CPO futures on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange came under pressure.
KPBN set the CPO price at IDR 16,098 per kilogram, up IDR 98/kg, or around 0.61 percent, from Wednesday's level of IDR 16,000/kg.
According to information obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, the Franco Dumai CPO price was set at IDR 16,098/kg. Meanwhile, the FOB Talang Duku price opened at IDR 15,848/kg before a withdrawal (WD), with the highest bid recorded at IDR 15,694/kg.
The Franco Teluk Bayur CPO price opened at IDR 15,898/kg, but was also withdrawn, with the highest bid reaching IDR 15,618/kg.
Malaysia CPO Futures Decline
In contrast to the domestic KPBN price, CPO futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives weakened during Thursday's trading session.
The decline was influenced by weaker soybean oil contracts and limited fresh buying from major export destinations. According to Bernama, nearly all CPO futures contracts closed lower.
The September 2026 contract fell RM13 to RM4,635 per tonne. The October 2026 contract declined RM63 to RM4,768 per tonne, while the November 2026 contract dropped RM54 to RM4,904 per tonne.
Further along the curve, the December 2026 contract fell RM47 to RM5,018 per tonne. The January 2027 contract declined RM41 to RM5,107 per tonne, while the February 2027 contract eased RM40 to RM5,169 per tonne.
Trading activity, however, increased significantly. Total volume reached 137,648 lots, up from 94,460 lots in the previous session.
Open interest moved in the opposite direction, declining to 338,419 contracts from 339,030 contracts previously.
Meanwhile, the physical CPO price for Southern Malaysia delivery in September remained unchanged at RM4,670 per tonne.
