InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) price at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) edged higher on Monday (August 3), while Malaysian palm oil futures closed lower for a second consecutive trading session amid expectations of rising production.
KPBN set the CPO reference price at Rp15,650 per kilogram, an increase of Rp100/kg or approximately 0.64 percent compared with the highest bid recorded on Friday (July 31), which stood at Rp15,550/kg.
According to information obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, the Franco Dumai CPO price was established at Rp15,650/kg, while FOB Talang Duku reached Rp15,400/kg and Franco Teluk Bayur was set at Rp15,450/kg.
Meanwhile, the benchmark October 2026 palm oil futures contract on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell RM14 per tonne, or approximately 0.3 percent, to close at RM4,629 per tonne, extending losses after declining about 0.85 percent in the previous session.
According to Reuters, stronger production prospects in Malaysia weighed on market sentiment despite robust export demand that helped limit the downside.
Cargo surveyors reported that Malaysian palm oil exports during July increased between 12.1 percent and 19.5 percent from June. A Reuters survey also estimated exports rose 14.8 percent during the month, while production expanded 7.4 percent, pushing national palm oil inventories to their highest level in five months.
Global edible oil markets also remained under pressure. The most active soybean oil contract on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange slipped 0.11 percent, while Dalian palm oil futures lost 0.88 percent. In the United States, soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) declined 0.21 percent, adding further bearish sentiment to the international vegetable oil market.
