InfoSAWIT, KAYONG UTARA – A forest and land fire in the concession area of PT Mayawana Persada, Kayong Utara, West Kalimantan, has prompted PT Jalin Vaneo to deploy its Manggala Agni firefighting team to help contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading toward surrounding areas.
The fire was reported from Sunday (6/9/2026), with the affected area directly bordering PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation. The company responded by mobilizing personnel and firefighting equipment despite the fire being located outside its plantation area.
Cited by InfoSAWIT from Suara Pemred Kalbar on Thursday (10/9/2026), the firefighting operation was led by PT Jalin Vaneo General Manager Martua Siahaan.
The company deployed high-capacity water pumps and a tanker truck to support efforts to contain the fire. The operation was conducted jointly with the Kayong Utara Forest Management Unit (KPH), as well as personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police (Polri).
The cooperation was intended to accelerate firefighting operations while preventing the flames from spreading into neighboring areas.
Fire Located Outside PT Jalin Vaneo Plantation
PT Jalin Vaneo emphasized that the fire was not located within its plantation area.
The clarification was considered important because the burning area is situated in the concession of PT Mayawana Persada, which directly borders PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation.
“The fire occurred outside PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation. We do not want anyone to assume that it was inside the company’s licensed area because PT Mayawana Persada is located next to PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation,” Martua said.
He also confirmed that no fire had occurred within PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation area.
“Thankfully, there has never been a fire inside the PT Jalin Vaneo area so far,” he said.
Despite the location being outside its plantation, the company continued to assist firefighting efforts as part of its response to the threat of fire around its operational area.
Firefighting Equipment Mobilized to Contain Spread
The response included the deployment of water pumps and tanker trucks, allowing firefighters to supply water directly to areas affected by the blaze.
The equipment was operated in coordination with KPH Kayong Utara and security personnel from the TNI and Polri.
Such coordination is considered important in areas where fires can spread rapidly, particularly when vegetation and dry conditions increase the risk of wider outbreaks.
PT Jalin Vaneo said it would continue maintaining preparedness and supporting villages around its operational area in dealing with potential forest and land fires.
The company also emphasized the importance of maintaining air quality and protecting the surrounding environment.
Early Detection Remains Critical
Beyond firefighting, early detection is being encouraged as an important part of forest and land fire prevention.
PT Jalin Vaneo called on communities around its operational area to participate in environmental protection and immediately report any new fire hotspots.
Early reports can give firefighting teams more time to respond before flames become larger and more difficult to control.
The response in Kayong Utara also illustrates the importance of collaboration between companies, government institutions, security forces and local communities in dealing with forest and land fires.
Rather than relying on a single institution, fire prevention requires coordinated monitoring, rapid response and adequate firefighting resources.
With the fire located outside PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation, the company’s participation demonstrates how firefighting cooperation can extend beyond individual operational boundaries when there is a risk that a fire could spread to surrounding areas. (T1)
