PROFOSS 2 Introduced at TPOMI4 to Enable Real-Time CPO Quality Monitoring

InfoSAWIT, MEDAN – The palm oil industry is taking another step toward digital transformation with the introduction of PROFOSS 2, a real-time monitoring system designed to measure Free Fatty Acid (FFA) levels in crude palm oil (CPO) during tanker truck reception.

The technology was unveiled during The Palm Oil Mill International Conference (TPOMI-4) in Medan and is integrated with the refinery weighing module of the mySAP365 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, allowing quality data to be automatically recorded alongside incoming CPO deliveries.

Traditionally, FFA testing has relied on manual sampling and laboratory analysis, a process that can delay operational decisions at processing facilities. PROFOSS 2 aims to shorten this process by providing immediate quality measurements as each tanker is received.

The system enables mills and refineries to obtain real-time data, improving raw material verification while creating a digital record that supports traceability, auditing, and operational management.

Data transmission between the monitoring equipment and the ERP platform is supported by a dedicated Private Network Enterprise infrastructure, ensuring secure and stable connectivity throughout the data integration process.

A representative of PT SMART Engineering Industries Sdn. Bhd. said the technology was developed to improve operational efficiency while strengthening quality management across Indonesia's downstream palm oil industry.

"The launch of PROFOSS 2 at TPOMI-4 reflects our commitment to delivering technology solutions that improve operational efficiency while supporting the competitiveness of Indonesia's CPO industry. Indosat's private network infrastructure provides the speed and security required for industrial-scale operations," the company representative said in a statement received by InfoSAWIT.

The adoption of real-time FFA monitoring reflects the industry's growing shift toward automation and digital quality control. By integrating quality measurement directly into operational workflows, the technology is expected to enhance efficiency, improve supply chain transparency, and support more consistent quality assurance across Indonesia's palm oil processing sector.
