InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s palm oil export performance surged sharply in June 2026, with total shipments reaching 3.275 million tonnes, up 64.08% from 1.996 million tonnes recorded in May, according to data from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI).
The increase was mainly driven by stronger exports of processed palm oil products, crude palm oil (CPO) and processed palm kernel oil (PKO) products.
Processed palm oil exports reached 2.357 million tonnes in June, up 66% from 1.423 million tonnes in the previous month. CPO exports recorded an even sharper increase, jumping from 31,000 tonnes in May to 335,000 tonnes in June, representing growth of around 980%.
As reported by InfoSAWIT, citing an official statement from GAPKI received on Wednesday (August 26, 2026), exports of processed palm kernel oil products also increased from 55,000 tonnes to 116,000 tonnes, or approximately 110%.
Cumulatively, Indonesia exported 16.595 million tonnes of palm oil products during the January–June 2026 period, an increase of 5.79% compared with 15.686 million tonnes recorded during the same period in 2025.
Export Value Reaches US$3.92 Billion
The increase in export volume was accompanied by a significant rise in export value. GAPKI reported that Indonesia’s palm oil export value reached US$3.92 billion in June 2026, up 57.45% from US$2.49 billion in May.
The growth was largely supported by higher shipment volumes, despite a decline in the average export price of CPO.
The average CPO export price in June stood at US$1,174 per tonne, down 4.32% from US$1,227 per tonne in May. The decline was in line with softer prices on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives, where prices fell from around US$1,134 per tonne in May to US$1,107 per tonne in June.
For the first half of 2026, Indonesia’s cumulative palm oil export value reached US$19.45 billion, an increase of 12.57% from US$17.277 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
The average CPO export price for January–June 2026 stood at US$1,132 per tonne, compared with US$1,088 per tonne during the same period a year earlier.
India and China Drive Export Growth
By destination, India and China were among the main contributors to the strong monthly increase in June.
Exports to India rose by 328,000 tonnes, or approximately 396%, compared with May. Shipments to China increased by 256,000 tonnes, representing growth of 67%.
Exports also rose significantly to Pakistan, Malaysia and Africa, while shipments to Bangladesh and the United States recorded further gains.
On the other hand, exports to Russia declined by 25,000 tonnes, or around 20%, while shipments to the European Union’s 27 member states slipped by about 4,000 tonnes, or 2%.
For the January–June period, exports to China were 31% higher than in the same period of 2025. Shipments to Malaysia increased by 13%, while exports to Russia rose 7%. Exports to Africa and Bangladesh each increased by 4%.
Meanwhile, cumulative shipments to the United States were down 8% year-on-year. Exports to India and Pakistan each declined by 7%, while shipments to the EU-27 edged down 1%.
Palm Oil Stocks Reach 2.844 Million Tonnes
Indonesia began 2026 with palm oil stocks of 2.068 million tonnes. Total CPO and PKO production during the January–June period reached 30.284 million tonnes, while domestic consumption stood at 12.994 million tonnes and total exports reached 16.595 million tonnes.
After accounting for imports of 32,000 tonnes, Indonesia’s palm oil stocks at the end of June 2026 were recorded at 2.844 million tonnes.
The GAPKI data indicate that higher palm oil production during the first half of 2026 was accompanied by growth in both domestic consumption and exports. However, strong demand from domestic and international markets resulted in lower stocks at the end of June compared with the previous month. (T2)
