InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers Organization (POPSI) has expressed its full support for the ongoing anti-corruption investigation led by the National Police's Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) in cooperation with investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya). The organization believes that transparent, professional, and impartial law enforcement is essential to strengthening governance across Indonesia's palm oil industry.
In an official statement received by InfoSAWIT on Monday (July 13, 2026), POPSI Chairman Mansuetus Darto stressed that all citizens must be treated equally before the law, with no individual or institution enjoying special privileges or immunity from legal processes.
"Professional, transparent, and fair law enforcement is a fundamental pillar of clean governance. Every party must be treated equally before the law," Darto said.
POPSI welcomed the cooperation between Kortas Tipikor and Polda Metro Jaya investigators in examining alleged corruption involving intermediaries linked to cases handled by the Special Crimes Division of the Attorney General's Office. The organization urged investigators to conduct a comprehensive inquiry in accordance with applicable laws to ensure that all relevant facts are uncovered.
Beyond the current investigation, POPSI also encouraged authorities to expand their scrutiny to broader governance issues affecting Indonesia's palm oil sector. The organization said any indications of legal violations, including matters related to the seizure of oil palm plantations located within forest areas, should be investigated transparently regardless of the institutions or individuals involved.
Representing independent oil palm farmers across the country, POPSI emphasized that stronger legal certainty is crucial for improving governance while safeguarding the rights and interests of smallholders who depend on a transparent and accountable plantation industry.
The organization also called for closer coordination among Indonesia's law enforcement agencies to enhance the effectiveness of corruption investigations involving matters of public and national interest.
Furthermore, POPSI urged the President of Indonesia to continue strengthening the independence of law enforcement institutions, ensuring that anti-corruption efforts are carried out professionally, objectively, and free from external interference.
According to POPSI, stronger governance and consistent law enforcement will not only enhance public trust but also contribute to a cleaner, more transparent, and more competitive palm oil industry that benefits both farmers and the nation as a whole. (T2)
