KUALA LUMPUR – On 12th annual Roundtable that held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on this middle November, together with some positive development that showed by industries in England, France, Germany, Sweden, Netherland, Norway, Denmark, and Belgium which have deal to use fully (100%) of sustainable palm oil in next 2015.
In RSPO press conference attended by InfoSAWIT, on Monday (10/11/2014), the development is influenced by the labeling compulsory provision on food products in the end of 2014 in Europe, that makes the palm oil and another vegetable oils will written clearly on the packaging of the products.
The condition were welcomed well by the Secretary General of RSPO, Darrel Webber, that by increase the consumers awareness to use sustainable palm oil on food products and take attention to the issues related to the palm oil products. This automatically will support the increasing of RSPO certification in palm oil plantations. “As an example, what is happen in Europe recently as the reflection of development in markets outside of Europe,” said Webber.
