To Increase Palm Oil Productivities, North Sumatera Should Make Special Education and Training




MEDAN – Founder of Gerakan Sumatera Utara Inisiatif, Julian Helmi Lubis said, there are many losts, about 7 millions of tons per hecare from the abandoned plantation. 30% of them are cultivated by the people. So he urged the government to make palm oil education, especially in North Sumatera.

“The government should pay attention to palm oil education. At least, it can start from the Vocational School, knowing that North Sumatera is very potential in plantation sectors, especially palm oil,” he said to Medan Bisnis, Tuesday, (9/9/2014).

He thought, each hectare which the people cultivate could give 13 tons of palm oil in every single year. The numbers are lower that the palm oil companies make, which reaching 20 tons per year. (T3)
