AMBON – The Main Board of Young Generation of Protestant Church of Maluku (PB AM-GPM), ignore the decision of the West point of Seram (SBB) to open the land to be palm oil plantation by 20 hectares wide in East Taniwel District.
Pastor Elifas Maspaitella, after the discussion meeting about ‘The Impacts of The Palm Oil Plantation and The Efforts to Hold The Customs, in East Taniwel District, West Point of Seram Regency’ that held by The University Student’s Solidarity For Taniwel (SomaForta), Saturday (11th October 2014), said that the efforts that done by PB AM-GPM and SomaForta is aim to develop the intelligence of the society, especially for the society of East Taniwel in order to make them know what is the impacts of the palm oil plantation.
“We explain to them that there are the negative impacts besides the positive impacts from the palm oil plantation,” he said, as published by Berita Maluku, Monday (13th October 2014).
According to Pastor Elifas, the ignorance of the development of palm oil plantation in their area cause of the case that happened in South Seram (Central Maluku Regency), that when the land clearing was doing, will bring negative effects toward the society and for the environment of Seram Island, he said that the case have to be as a reference for the government of SBB and Mitra Utama, PT.
