KUALA LUMPUR – General Secretary of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Darrel Webber, said, having “Special Consultative Status’, RSPO gets benefits.

"RSPO must have benefits from the opportunity for we are having the platform and channel which will be possible for us to be heard,” he said in his written information which InfoSAWIT recently accepted.

He also hoped, the opportunity will help RSPO to change the market to realize sustainable palm oil.

Having the status, RSPO could do consultation actively and participate in United Nations (UN) and consultate with the members of UN.

Now there are about 18% or about 11,1 millions metric tons of palm oil production in the world having RSPO certificate. They are spread in 1,98 millions certified hectares areas; 49,6% from Indonesia’s certified RSPO, 40,6% from Malaysia, 5,6% from Papua New Guinea and 4,2% from Salomon Island, Coast de Ivory, Thailand, Guatemala, Equador, Brazil, Kamboja, and Colombia.
