SAMARINDA – To enlarge the plantation area, especially palm oil plantation in East Kalimantan to be 2,4 millions hectares in 2018 will have more challenge, such as, the spreading of fake palm oil seeds.
Head of Plantation Agency, East Kalimantan, Etnawati Usman as quoted from from Regional Technic Unit (RTU) of Plantation Seed Monitor (SPM), palm oil plantation companies (private sectors) should more be careful to buy seeds from the seeds supplier.
He also explained, his side is getting more serious to monitor the spread of fake seeds after the State Inteligence Agency mentioned, there are about 40% of fake seeds in Sumatera and Kalimantan.
“This information makes us to be more active to monitor the spread of seeds in East Kalimantan,” Etnawati explained together with the Head of RTU PSM, Irsal Syamsa, Friday, (15/8/2014).
Some days before, Plantation Agency East Kalimantan vanished about 12.000 illegal palm oil seeds in Petanggis Village, Subdistrict of Batu Engau, District of Paser. (T3)
