JAKARTA – Geospatial Information Agency (GIA) together with UKP4 and Coordinator of REDD+ launched the participative mapping application, on Monday (25/8/2014) in Jakarta. The application is in beta version which is hoped to be the feedback from the people to help the process of perfection in continous way.
Head of GIA, Asep Karsidi said, the application which is designed by interface will be user friendly and this is do to invite the participation from all of the people so that they independently map their regions. “GIA urges the people’s participation independently to map their regions. What they have mapped will be verified and used as parts from official dataset of the government,” he said in the official statement of Coordinator REDD+ to InfoSAWIT.
The participative mapping initiative, he continued, is aimed to make authoritative mapping to the land claim in the forest area by doing innovative geospatial analysis. “GIA has arranged the protocol and procedure to the participative mapping to ensure the compatibility by One Map Action,” Aset said.
