Pekanbaru – Members of Commission 2, Legislative of South Sumatera admired the palm oil progress in Riau for about last one decade. The development of plantation commodity between South Sumatera and Riau was in the same time, the licence was given by the central government. Now it is good that Riau will be the role model of national plantation development.

The vastness and production of plantation in 2012 which Plantation Agency had collected were : palm oil plantation reached 2.372.402 hectares, coconuts 521.792 hectares, rubber 500.851 hectares, coffee 4.862 hectares and the productions of palm oil plantations reached 7.340.809 tons, coconuts 473.221 tonss, rubber 350.476 tons and coffee kopi 2.513 tons. Vice Chairman of Commission 2, Legislative of South Sumatera, H. Rusli Datmian said that when doing comparative study in Riau (26/8).

As written in Metroterkini, Rusli said, Riau is the central region for developing the best four mainstay commidities, they are, Rubber, Palm oil, Coconut and Sagoo. In palm oil plantation, Riau gives 25% of the national income from palm oil plantation sector. So Riau could be the role model to develop mainstay commodity. “By this time, the development of plantation commodity in South Sumatera just reaches 831 thousands hectares. It is hoped that the comparative study could be the reference and consideration to make the regulations in his regions,” Rusli said.  (T2)
