KUALA LUMPUR – The research team of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Orion Genomics officially announced the publishing of papars in Nature Communications Journal, which identifies the gen, which is called VIR. VIR is responsible to change the skin of orange palm oil skin which is virescens when it gets mature.
Acording to OrionGenomicsin the press conference which InfoSAWIT got, Monday (30/6/2014), the color change offers the better ways to determine the best time to harvest the fruit in the optimal time. This is as same as the work sponsored and lead by MPOB.
The palm oil fruits and the seeds are the sources of half of the natural oil whole over the world and provide the source of biofuel.
“As the second biggest palm oil producer in the world, Malaysia commits to increase the sustainability of palm oil cultivation while keeping the wild habitats,” General Director of MPOB, Datok Choo Yuen Mei said.
He continued, Orion Genomics has become the crucial partner in this business and would invent the genom discovery which leads to the increasing of the breeding technics and the more productive and efficient plantation to help, protect and also maintain the rain forests.(T3)
