PEKAN BARU - Since January – April, kinds of weeds and diseases have attacked people’s plantations in the Riau Province for about 12.384,85 hectares, including the palm oil plantation.
Chief of Plantation Agency of Riau reported, the weeds attackig the people’s plantations were beetle horn (oryctes), leaf horn (bronstiva), white root leaf horn, caterpillar fire and the disease is Ganoderma.
“Nyirur bug attacked palm oil plantation in 648,25 hectares and the widest area was in Kampar about 579 hectares,” he explained as quoted from Riau24, Monday (30/6/2014).
Beside that, Zuhler said, Ganoderma attacked palm oil plantations in 533,8 hectares and the widest area was in Kampar, 211 hectares. (T3)
