KUALA LUMPUR–The member of Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) in Malaysia has madePalm Oil Special Interest Group (SIG) to make technical business net in important national sectors. 

 CEO IchemE, David Brown  said, the making of SIG is the initiative to show the competitive challenge in Malaysian palm oil sectors which the environmental standard is lower and the employees’ salary which will be increased by Malaysian businessmen to raise the downstream sectors from Indonesia.

 “This is important sector in renewable natural resources and it is also the answer to face the real economic challenge,” he said as quoted from dikutip tce today, Rabu (29/4).

 He explained, more than 60% from agricultural area in Malaysia are planted by palm oil which reaching about US$19 billions. 80% fromthe exports consist of crude palm oil and processed palm oil 

 So, the government of Malaysia supports the companies to change palm oil to be oleochemical, the food and health products through the initative in National Key Economic Area (NKEA).

 Brown continued, there are famous chemical engineers to solve the challenge and this might develop the industries to do more. “We hope, Palm Oil SIG could make new success,” he said. (T3)
