Palm Oil Plantation in the Border of the River Will Be Damaged

MUKOMUKO –Head of Agriculture, Plantation, Livestock and Forestry Agency, District of Mukomuko, Edy Apriyanto emphasized to damage palm oil plantations planted in the border of the lake or about 500 meters around the lake.

He thought, planting palm oil in the border of Nibung Lake is against the rule because the border of the lake is protected area. “There are lots of areas planted by palm oil. We will damage it to be rehabilitated and re-planted the area within the woods,” he said.

To follow up the case, the Agency will coordinate with Environment Agency. The result of the coordination will determine what to do to protect and prevent the damage of the lake border.

The border of the lake should be maintained and kept well as the absorption of the lake because the lake could be well seen.

“The border of the river should not be disturbed. No palm oil plantation,” he said as written in Harian Rakyat Bengkulu, Wednesday (22/4)

He continued, there are lots of people mastering the area and planting it within palm oil. Knowing this condition, there will be a study to plant the border lake within partnership pattern. But the partnership could not be planted by palm oil, but woods.(T3)
