Expensive Gas, People Of Lebak Use Palm Oil Waste as the to Cook

 LEBAK – The expensive gas in the retailers make some people in District of Lebak, Banten, start to use the bulk or palm oil waste as the material to cook daily needs.

Some housewives in Parakan, Village of Nameng, Subdistrict of Rangkasibitung, District of Lebak should walk about four kilometres to palm oil plantation belonging to PTPN VIII, Cisalak to look for palm oil waste which is not sold to be made in to bulk to cook their food.

“We have used palm oil waste to save the living costs for two weeks. Our husbands are building workers and now they are jobless,” a housewife in Village of Nameng, District of Lebak, Mimin said, as quoted from Antara, Sunday (19/4).

She said, using palm oil waste to cook will help his family for she could not buy the a three kilogramm gas. It is now Rp 22.000 which was Rp 16.000.

She does mind if her money is to buy gas for she has two children in the junior high school. So in every morning, she and her friends seek the palm oil waste in the plantation.

She estimated, it is about 4 kilometres to reach the plantation. “We are used to walk in the forest, paddy field and plantation,” she explained. (T3)
