JAKARTA–Many sides felt sorry to the Government’s plan to revise the Government’s Regulation No. 71 / 2014 about the Wetland Protection and Management. This shows, the government is inconsistent to protect the wetland. “The government could not make the new regulation indicating the decreasing standard of environmental protection,” Henri Subagiyo, Executive Director Lembaga Kajian Hukum Lingkungan Indonesia (ICEL), Saturday (11/4) in Jakarta.

It is said, the revision of Wetland regulation relates to whom mastering plantation and industrial plantation forest, covering the distance limit of wetland surface with the water in the canal, that is, 40 cm. The depth will endanger the cultivation.

In many conferences and meeting, Secretary of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya Bakar said, the revision plan is got from the meeting with Ministry of Coordiantor of Economy. We will prepare the academic and economical descriptions,” she said as written in Kompas.

Deputy of Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Climate Change and Environmental Damage Control, Arief Yowono said, his side is planning to make agenda with the economy experts. Beside economy, the law enforcement in the Wetland Regulation will be criticized too.(T2)
