KPBN CPO Price Rises to Rp15,758/kg as India’s Palm Oil Imports Increase

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) market strengthened on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with the price set by PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) rising to Rp15,758 per kilogram.

The latest price marked an increase of Rp56 per kg, or around 0.36%, from the highest CPO bid recorded on Tuesday, September 15, at Rp15,702 per kg. The movement came as India, one of the world’s major vegetable oil markets, stepped up palm oil purchases ahead of its festival season.

KPBN set the CPO price at Rp15,758 per kg on a Franco Dumai basis, while the price on an FOB Talang Duku basis stood at Rp15,508 per kg. At Franco Teluk Bayur, the initial CPO price was Rp15,558 per kg, although the tender was withdrawn, with the highest bid recorded at Rp15,445 per kg.

The market was also supported by stronger Indian demand. Data from the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) showed that India imported 782,761 tonnes of palm oil in August 2026, up 7% from the previous month.

The increase pushed India’s palm oil imports to their highest level since February. At the same time, soybean oil purchases surged to a record, lifting the country’s total vegetable oil imports to their highest level in 11 months.

Soybean oil imports climbed 26% month-on-month to 628,736 tonnes, while sunflower oil imports moved in the opposite direction, falling 36% to 160,639 tonnes.

The stronger buying activity reflects the seasonal pattern of India’s edible oil market, with refiners building inventories ahead of the country’s major festival period. Higher demand from India could provide additional support for palm oil exporters, including Indonesia and Malaysia.
