Malaysia Palm Oil Futures Strengthen as KPBN CPO Prices Edge Higher

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Crude palm oil (CPO) prices in Indonesia and Malaysia moved higher on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as the benchmark palm oil futures contract in Malaysia extended its gains for a second consecutive session.

At Indonesia’s PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN), the highest CPO bid rose slightly to Rp15,702 per kilogram, up Rp2 from Rp15,700 per kilogram recorded on Monday.

KPBN trading was marked by withdrawals across several delivery points. CPO at Franco Dumai opened at Rp15,785 per kilogram before being withdrawn, with the highest bid recorded at Rp15,702 per kilogram. At FOB Talang Duku, CPO opened at Rp15,546 per kilogram and was withdrawn at a highest bid of Rp15,379 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, Franco Teluk Bayur CPO opened at Rp15,585 per kilogram before being withdrawn, with the highest bid reaching Rp15,445 per kilogram.

In Malaysia, CPO futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives also continued to strengthen. The benchmark contract for November 2026 delivery rose RM46 per metric ton, or 0.95 percent, to RM4,896 per ton by midday trading, equivalent to approximately US$1,200.59 per ton.

The rise in palm oil futures was supported partly by stronger crude oil prices, amid concerns over disruptions to global energy supplies. Higher crude oil prices can improve the relative attractiveness of palm oil as a feedstock for biodiesel.

However, movements among competing vegetable oils remained mixed. Dalian’s most-active soybean oil contract fell 0.91 percent, while its palm oil contract declined 0.38 percent. Chicago Board of Trade soybean oil prices, meanwhile, edged up 0.07 percent.

KPBN’s other CPO transactions on Tuesday included a CIF Gresik opening price of Rp15,785 per kilogram, with a bid of Rp15,525 per kilogram. Loco PKS Kembayan was withdrawn at Rp15,285 per kilogram, with the highest bid at Rp15,202, while Loco PKS Ngabang was withdrawn at Rp15,410 per kilogram, with the highest bid reaching Rp15,227.

The market also recorded CPKO trading at Franco Dumai at Rp31,318 per kilogram, withdrawn with the highest bid at Rp30,180 per kilogram. Palm kernel at Franco Belawan was recorded at Rp13,810 per kilogram.

The latest price movements underline the continuing influence of energy markets and competing vegetable oils on the direction of palm oil prices, while the relatively firm Malaysian futures market provides an important reference for global palm oil traders. (T2)
