SAMARINDA–East Kalimantan Province had lost some momentum in economical revival. The first momentum was when the big wood exploitation in 1970s. Then the oil and gas exploitation in 1980 – 1990s. And now palm oil plantation momentum should become the economical revival in East Kalimantan.

“Now it is the time to the revival momentum in palm oil  plantation. We hoped, palm oil plantations could be processed, not only in crude palm oil (CPO) only but become several derivative products. It means, the cultivation should be boosted as soon as possibe,” head of Plantation Agency, East Kalimantan, Hj. Etnawati, said, Friday (27/3) in Samarinda, as quoted from Viva Borneo.

She thought, palm oil plantations in East Kalimantan reach  3,6 millions of hectares. 1,2 millions hectares are productive within the production about 10 fruit per year.

So, she continued, not to loose the economical momentum, Provincial government of East Kalimantan has put the base of development in plantation sector by building some ports, such as, the phenomenal one is in Maloy International Port Industrial Region, in District of East Kutai. (T3)
