MENUMBOK - Felcra Berhad will make palm oil planting project in a 100 hectare area and will involve 50 participants, consisting of the small area owners in Menumbok, Sabah.
Before it, Felcra, as reported by Sayang Sabah, Tuesday (24/3), had run seven projects in the region within 253 hectes which involved 170 participants since it began its business in 1999.
Vice Secretary of Woman, Family and Social Emporwerment, Datuk Azizah Mohd. Dun said, the government wants that the people in the region , especially having empty areas could develop their areas by planting palm oil commodity, through Felcra.
Beside that, he continued, the participants of Felcra are suggested to run downstream industry by involving the families’ members in the areas which are developed. It is convinced, the downstream industry could give additional income for them who hoped palm oil production for such a long time.
“For example, the families, especially the ladies could run business, such as, in producing food or others using Felcrea trademark, just like what other institutions or industries have run in this country. I believed, this will increase their economy,” he said. (T3)
