SARAWAK – Downstream sector palm oil –base in Palm Oil Integrated Complex (POIC) in Bintulu is supported by Malaysian Palm Oil Board to make Serawak to be welknown in the world.

Federal Secretary of Plantation Industry and Commodity, Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah Embas said so in the opening ceremony in Serawak Oil Palm Berhad (SOPB) in the Biodiesel Factory in Serawak, Saturday (17/1).

SOPB built Integrated Palm Oil Downstream Complex in Kinda II having distillation factory and kernel oil factory.

“Serawak Oil Palm Green Energy has done much efforts in the downstream sector to make palm oil fitonutrients, such as, carotene (pro – vitamin A) and tocol concentrate (palm vitamin E), based on the technology of MPOB. The agreement with MPOB has been signed to sell palm fitonutrient in commerce. This plant might have been finish in the second quarter of 2015,” Dauglas mentioned as quoted from Daily Express.

Palm oil is full of natural fitonutrient. The main fitonutrients in crude palm oil are carotene, tocols, sterol and squalene. Palm fitonutrient is the side product got during palm oil conversion to produce biodiesel. (T3)
