PEKANBARU – Palm oil harvest especially in Riau is not as good as the harvest of the neighbor country. Economical industrial observer from Moslem University of Riau, Azharuddin M Amin said so because of unsophisticated palm oil technology.
“We have more lost about the technological development and the derivatives palm oil sector in Riau. We have the downstream technology in crude palm oil (CPO) only. But the other country could produce tens of derivative products from our CPO,” he said, Tuesday (6/1) as quoted from Bertuah Pos.
He also mentioned, if this keeps running, there will be potential lost to our palm oil product. For example, Azhar said, industries in Riau have 10 millions of tons/year. But if the unsophisticated technology in palm oil does not exist, the region will fulfill 7 – 8 millions of tons/year. “It means, there will be a lost about 2 millions of tons per year,” he ended his word.
