JAKARTA – The global markets insist palm oil plantation companies to implement sustainable principles and criteria and palm oil farmers too. So palm oil farmers union (POFU) tries their best to implement it to its members which is about 38 thousands members.

Coordinator of  POFU, Mansuetos Darto Alsyanu said, POFU has identified its members by providing data to ensure to make comfort. “There are lots of companies which are doubtful that the fruits derive from forest area,” he recently said in Jakarta.

Beside that, to make the companies comfort of buying fruits from the members of POFU, his side has mapped them and their plantations to ensure that the members are not in the problem in producing fruit.

So, Darto continued, in implementing sustainable principle, his side has trained and prepared 300 experts in eight districts of POFU location. “This is the way  to train them, how to plant palm oil well, how to cultivate and increase the production,” he explained. q T3
