KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian palm oil giant, Kuala Lumpur Kepong (KLK) has joined a growing list of companies committing to zero deforestation for commodity production.
On Monday, KLK released a sustainability policy that includes commitments to zero deforestation, no peatlands conversion, labor safeguard, and support for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations.
“KLK is committed to ensuring that its products are produced in asutainable manner,” the company said. Cited by Mongabay, on Tuesday ( 02/12/2014) the company adding that its policy builds on standards set under the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). (T4)
