Water Management to Reducing Emission

 BANDUNG – Budi Indra Setiawan, a researcher in Bogor Agricultural Institute stated that the productivity of palm oil can be increased through water management.

He opined, the control of watery has to be improved its effectiveness in order to support the growing of palm oil plants.

“Water management now is become so important. Moreover, on peat-palm oil plantations, water management can be effectively as one of way to declines emissions, especially in peat areas,” he explained as cited by CNN Indonesia, on Friday (28/11/2014).

But, he opined, the Government Regulation No.71 of 2014 on the Peat Protection and Ecosystem Management stating peatlands water level limit stipulated a maximum of 40cm are considered not able to accommodate the growth of palm oil plantations.

“If the limitation as that big value, it cannot accommodate the growing ant rooting of palm oil plants,” he explained. (T4)
