BANDUNG – Electricity crisis that still happening in North Sumatera makes Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) considers the using of palm oil mill effluent (POME) as the electricity resources, cause it has a very big potential.
Met after IPOC event in Bandung, on Thursday (27/11/2014), Dadang Kusdiana, Director of Bioenergy of MEMR Ministry stated, nowadays the electrical power needs in North Sumatera reaches 2,000 Mega Watt (MW).
“The potency of POME is very big. We (Ministry of MEMR) calculates, it can be reaches 12 thousands MW in the whole of Indonesia, by the electricity potency of 12.000 MW of POME, it can be ascertained that the crisis of electricity power in North Sumatera can be handled,” he said, as published by Okezone.
Furthermore, he added, a palm oil mill by 30 tons per hour production has potency in 1 MW electricity power. The numbers will have big accumulation by the existence of 700 palm oil mills in Indonesia. (T4)
