Uggah: 78% Malaysian Agriculture Labors are Foreigners

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture Industry and Commodity, Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas stated, about 350.000 labors or 78% from national agriculture sector are consist of foreigners.

Considering the lack of local people interest to work in agriculture sector, and the support from the government to decreases the dependence of foreigner labor, he said forward step for agriculture industry is by do a bigger mechanisms and automation.

He stated  by bigger absorber and mechanisms implementation, are what factor needs by agriculture industry o re-structure their operation.

“While I optimism that the mechanism and automation will bring a bigger help  in decreasing the dependence of foreign labors, it have to run together with planned and coordinated programs, also a strong commitment by agriculture and industry management to increasing their labor productivity,” said Uggah, on Monday (24/11/2014), as written by Bernama.
