MELAWI – The Head of Forestry and Agriculture Agency in Melawi Regency, West Borneo, Nahru, questioned the reason for local cops seized thousands cubic of timbers owned by two palm oil plantation companies in two local districts.
“The timbers itself is there no any problems, the IPK (legality letter of forest-timbers, red.) still active, if the IPK isn’t active anymore, it also cannot be a problem, cause the timbers are going nowhere, still in the stacks,” he said, on Monday (17/11), as published by Tribun News.
Averagely, IPK owned by both of the companies are PT Rafi dan PT Adau is more than one. He stated, IPK launched Forestry and Agriculture Agency is applied for a year only. So that for next year, the company have to re-extends the IPK.
“When re-extends IPK we will make an evaluation, by field cross-check, is there any replenishment or even reduction to the timbers, if there any deviation, also there is re-calculation,” he explained. (T3)
