BEIJING – Indonesian Trading Minister Rachmat Gobel ask APEC to be more pro-people (people-centred), more opened for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) stakeholders, also overcome the problem of poverty in Asia-Pacific area.

“Indonesia is ready to make a deal with the aboard partners along to make the mutual balance of benefit. APEC should further the development interest of developing countries and exports of marginalized business group,” he said when opening the meeting of AMM and AELW 2014, as published by Kemendag, on Friday (07/1/2014).

In this occasion, Indonesia has to pushes the progress of development proposals. One is the proposal that have been proposed since the end of 2013, about the trading of products which contributed to the sustainable and inclusive development, also the development of rural and poverty reduction efforts.

By the proposals, Indonesia ask APEC research agency, that is Policy Support Unit (PSU), to chooses some of “Development Products” that have the biggest impact toward the increasing of the revenue of poor people, farmers, also for SMEs especially in rural areas.

Important to know that PSU has studied 157 products (^ HS Digit) that nominated as APEC members, 15 of them are coming from Indonesia there are palm oil, rubber, rattan, wood products, and fishes. (T3)
