Ministry of Transportation Studies Palm Oil For Aeroplane Fuel

KUTA – Ministry of Transportation is studying palm oil which will be used as the fuel mixing for aeroplane. It is done as part of renewable energy program in the ministry.

Director of Flight Safety, Ministry of Transportation said, the study of aeroplane fuel is in cooperation with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource, Universities and some related institutions.

“The usage of renewable energy for aeroplane fuel in the future will use palm oil,” Yusfandri Gona said in the offical statement in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Committee Aviation on Environment Protection (CAEP) in Kuta, Badung, Bali, Monday (15/9/2014).

He also said, his side targets that in 2020 will have 41% green house effect emission. From the numbers, 26% will derive from domestic, while the rests derive from the international countries.

“All sectors will do it, starting from forestry, energy, peatland, and transportation. In the air transportation, we target to have 41% reduction in 2020,” he said. (T3)
