JAKARTA – The performance of exports in September 2014 has strengthened significantly, reaching USD 15,3 billion, an increase of 5,5% compared to the previous month (MoM). This was driven by an increase in non-oil and gas exports reached USD 12,7 billion, up 6,5% (MoM).

Indonesian Ministry of Commerce estimates that the strengthened of non-oil and gas exporting in September will continue to lead the positive growth at the end of the year.

“The growth of non-oil and gas exports rise compared to last month were only up by 2,1%. This indicates improved optimism exports at the end of the year,” said the Trading Minister Rachmat Gobel, at a press conference on Tuesday (04/11/2014).

 Cumulatively, non-oil and gas balance had surplus of September 2014 reached US$ 758,8 million, increase from the previous month of US$ 489,6 million.

The increase in exports was accompanied by an increase in imports, especially for oil and gas importing which grew by 7,4% to USD 1,0 billion deficit. National trade balance in September 2014 also deficit of USD 270,2 million. (T3)
