PELAIHARI – Land disputes between communities and palm oil company in various regions seem to keep rolling. In Muara Asam-asam village Jorong district, Tanah Laut regency, South Borneo Province, for example, local residents on Monday (03/11/2014), reported to Tanah Laut Parliament alleged land encroachment by palm oil company, PT Kitap Jaya Wattindo (KJW).
A representative of the landowners in Pelaihari, Misran, as published by Antara, stating we sue our land area of 182 hectares around Pumpung River, taken PT KJW since 14 years ago to Tanah Laut Parliament.
“Because until now there has been no goodwill from the company to compensate landowners as expected,” he said.
The company, he said, had offered compensation to the owner of the land area of 91.182 hectares of Rp 600 thousand per hectare.
Meanwhile, The chairman of Tanah Laut Commission I Parliament ending Isnawaningsih said, the parliament will bridge the problems. “We will call on the leadership of PT KJW to sit down with residents to find the best solution, so there are no losers,” she said. (T3)
