KUALA LUMPUR – An art director, graphic designer, and jewellery maker named Peisy Ting wanted to create a line of simple products made from a new source of sustainable tree-free paper called palm paper.
As published by The Star, the process of palm paper were starts with the empty fruit bunches (EFB) that remain after the palm oil is extracted from the fruit of oil pam. It turns out EFB contains the right type of fibre, as well as the necessary chemical and biological structure to make paper.
The result is a natural-looking paper that is bleach-free, with a 100% biodegradable and compostable texture, the products are branded named Palm Republik. (T4)
