JAKARTA – To increase the capacity of Riau provincial government, BP REDD+ has facilitated the process of socialization National Procedure (Posnas) Prevention and Countermeasures Forest Fires, as well as training on Karhutla Monitoring System (KMS); hoe to using the facility of high resolution satellite imagery which able to identify the number of fire-spot and presents as an analysis that can be used by authorities in law enforcement.

Besides, BP REDD+ together with the government of Riau province also have made a number of strategic activities themed community-based prevention and control of forest fires and peat-lands, training of Karhutla Monitoring System, Citizen Journalism, Karhutla Audit, as well as Thematic KKN about Forest Fires.

“The aims were to build the preparedness of the society by increasing the vigilance and public awareness in anticipation and transmit important information related to forest fires and peat-lands also environment issues in general,” said the Head of BP REDD+ Heru Prasetyo, Wednesday (29/10/2014).
