JAKARTA – Governance Agency REDD+ said, after Jambi Province, Central Borneo, North Borneo, West Sumatera, Central Sulawesi and South Sumatera, now is the turn for Riau to signed a memorandum of understanding with BP REDD+ about good management of forest and peat-lands.
Acting Governor of Riau Province, Arsyadjuliandi Rachman, said according to the vision of management of forests and natural resources for sustainable peat-land in Riau public welfare, currently Riau Province has a Strategy and Action Plan (SRAP) Riau and baseline data, “Including cadastral maps, as a prerequisite for the implementation of REDD+ and are committed to implement REDD+ in Riau Province,” he said in a statement of BP REDD+ received by InfoSAWIT, (29th October 2014).
Next action plan, the Riau provincial government will establish special institutions or strengthening existing institutions to oversee the implementation of REDD+ in Riau in fulfilling some aspects, such as measuring Reference Emission Level (REL) and apply mechanism Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) in order can measure the performance of the implementation REDD+.
