Ebola Overspreads, Sime Darby Postpones to Build POF

WASHINGTONS – Malaysian palm oil company, Sime Darby, Tuesday (23/9/2014), said, his side postponed to build palm oil factory in Liberia and did not discuss about the areal enlargement for Ebola overspreaded

“We postpone it,” Sime Darby’s Head of Sustainability and External Relationship for Africa and Europe, CarlDagenhar said.

Sime Darby is famously known as the biggest palm oil plantation owner in West Africa with its total investment about more than US$ 2 billions. In the early days of this year, the company has planted 10,035hectaresof palm oil and 107hectaresrubber.

According to the company, the project has been running  when Ebola appeares. But the contractor ofSimeDarbyPlantationLiberia(SDPL) has been chosen. In the beginning, it is targetted to be finished by  the middle of 2015.

Dagenhar continued, as quoted from Reuters, the project will be continued if the Ebola has been undercontrolled. (T3)
