JAKARTA - To reduce importt dependence of fuel and save the state apenditure, the government will increase the portion of biodiesel in the diesel and it will reduce the consumption of diesel.
"Having the policy, it is hoped to reduce the import of oil and gas significantly. The target could be 100 thousands barrel per day. But in short term, the biodiesel provision could be fulfilled by the available vegetable oil,” Head of Research and Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Haryono said in Jakarta, Friday (8/8/2014).
He thought, the most prepared material and technology to produce biodiesel is by advantaging crude palm oil (CPO)
He continued, to produce 100 thousands barrel biodiesel per day will needs about 5,6 millions kilo liter CPO per tahun. “The numbers is as same as the numbers about 30% of the total export of CPO in 2012,” he explained.
Statistics of General Directorate of Plantation shows, in 2012 Indonesia’s CPO production reached 23,5 millions tons, while the CPO export volume reached 18,85 millions tons per year. (T3)
